
Liberty Add Ta'Shia Phillips to Roster

NEW YORK, NY - July 28, 2011 - The New York Liberty have added center Ta'Shia Phillips to its roster and released forward Felicia Chester, it was announced today by Head Coach and General Manager John Whisenant.
Phillips, a 6-6 center from Xavier University, was selected eighth overall by Atlanta in the 2011 WNBA Draft before being traded to Washington on draft day. She played 10 games for the Mystics, averaging 1.9 points and 1.6 rebounds over 5.4 minutes prior to being waived on Jul. 25. The two-time Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year finished her four-year collegiate career, averaging 14.5 points and 11.8 rebounds over 131 games.
Chester, a 6-3 forward, was the 15th overall selection in the 2011 WNBA Draft by the Minnesota Lynx and was immediately traded to the Atlanta Dream on draft day. She spent training camp with the Dream before being waived. The Liberty signed Chester on July 5; she was waived on July 21 and then signed to a seven-day contract on July 25. Chester played in five games for the Liberty.
The Liberty's next game is scheduled for Thursday, July 28 when they play host to the Washington Mystics at the Prudential Center. New York Liberty home games will be played at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for the 2011, 2012, and 2013 seasons while Madison Square Garden undergoes a comprehensive, top-to-bottom Transformation.
