Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Jupiter jumped ahead to a 3-0 lead in the first and never looked back, leading wire-to-wire to take the series finale 6-3 at Hammond Stadium.
The Hammerheads (9-6) put together five hits in the opening frame against Paulshawn Pasqualotto (0-1) and went on to take the series four games to two. The team to score first went on to win in all six contests.
Jupiter added another run in the fourth on a single and a pair of Mussels' errors to go ahead 4-0.
Pasqualotto was solid in his five innings of work, allowing four runs (two earned) while scattering seven hits.
Fort Myers (6-9) got on the scoreboard in the sixth. Gregory Duran laced a one-out single to right field to start the rally. Jose Rodriguez followed with his first Low-A home run to make it a 5-2 game. The blast was hit 100.1 mph off the bat.
That was all the Mussels would get off Hammerheads' starter Jake Brooks (2-0), who struck out five across six innings of work.
The teams traded runs in their halves of the eighth, with Raynce Doncon scoring on a wild pitch for Fort Myers to make it a 6-3 game.
Nigel Belgrave came on in the ninth for Jupiter and struck out the side to earn his third save of the series.
Duran and Wilfri Castro each went 2-for-3 at the plate with a walk for the Mussels' offense. Omari Daniel recorded his first Low-A hit with a 105.3 mph double down the left field line in the seventh.
The Mussels return to action on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. as the Palm Beach Cardinals come to Hammond Stadium for the second series of the homestand. Coverage begins at 6:45 p.m. on the Mighty Mussels Baseball Network.
