Lincoln Stars News Release
The Sioux City Musketeers topped the Lincoln Stars, 3-1, in Game 2 of the Western Conference Semifinals on Saturday night at the Ice Box.
The loss pushes the Stars to the brink of elimination in the best-of-five series. Matthew Maltais scored Lincoln's lone goal at the 9:58 mark of the second period. His shot from just inside the blue line marked his second goal of the postseason and cut the deficit to 2-1 9:58 into the second period.
Kaden Shahan got the scoring started with a wrist shot far-post side from the left-wing circle 10:42 into the game. The Musketeers doubled up the lead at the 5:10 mark of the second on a Hagen Burrows shot after each of the previous two shots of the sequence were denied.
Maltais' goal put the Stars within one but after the Musketeers cashed in on a five-minute power play to regain the two-goal lead.
The series shifts to Sioux City for Game 3 on Monday night. Games 4 and 5 will be on Tuesday and Thursday, respectively, and will also be played at the Tyson Events Center.
