
Musketeers Blank Des Moines, Earn First Road Win

(Des Moines, IA) - An offensive explosion in the second period and a shutout performance from starting goaltender Alex Tracy lifted the Sioux City Musketeers past Des Moines 4-0 on Friday.
After a scoreless first period, the Musketeers found paydirt three times in the second frame. Brenden Olson scored on a breakaway with 17:21 remaining, chipping a backhanded shot past Buccaneer netminder Derek Mullahy.
Ninety seconds later, Nikita Krivokrasov centered a pass to Jackson Nieuwendyk, who deflected the puck into the net and doubled the Sioux City lead. With 31 seconds left in the period, Brian Carrabes scored on a one-timer, assisted by Carter Loney. Olson scored his second goal of the contest with 12:37 left in the third period to cap the scoring.
Eight different Musketeers recorded a point, led by Olson's two goals and two assists from Kirklan Irey. In net, Tracy stopped all 21 shots he faced en route to his second win.
The Musketeers are now 2-3 on the season and return to action Saturday at Waterloo.
