Houston Aeros News Release

HOUSTON, Texas - Every point scored by Houston Aeros defenseman Curtis Murphy during the 2006 Calder Cup Playoffs will continue to lead to a donation to "I Have a Dream"®, thanks to the generosity of an anonymous local donor. The program - "Murphy's Mission" - is increasing the stakes, however, as the Aeros begin their run for their second Calder Cup in four seasons. Houston will host Peoria in Game 1 of the West Division Semifinals on Friday at 7:35 p.m. at Toyota Center, followed by Game 2 Saturday at 7:35 p.m. Call 1.866.GO.AEROS for Calder Cup Playoffs ticket information. For group or playoff package information, call the Aeros office at 713.974.PUCK.

The anonymous donor will give $1,000 per Murphy goal and $200 per Murphy assist for each home game in the Calder Cup Playoffs. If Murphy tallies a hat trick (three goals) in any home game during the playoffs, the donor will give $10,000. In addition, if the Aeros capture the Calder Cup, the donor will give $10,000 in honor of the entire team. The program has raised $2,600 since beginning in March.

The "I Have a Dream"® Program helps children from low-income areas reach their education and career goals by providing a long-term program of mentoring, tutoring, and enrichment with an assured opportunity for higher education.

The Aeros are still encouraging fans to get involved. Pledge forms for fans are available at all Aeros' home games, and can also be printed here.

"I am happy to increase the stakes for Murphy's mission throughout the playoffs to benefit the ‘I Have a Dream' charity," the donor said. "In addition, since hockey is a team effort, an individual commitment has been made to make a donation to a fine charity in honor of the whole team if they win the Calder Cup. I wish the best of luck to Curtis and the rest of the Aeros in their quest for the Cup."
