Mueller and Lammers Finalists for WHL Awards

Everett, WA - March 21, 2006: The 2005-2006 U.S. Division Champions Everett Silvertips received some recognition by the WHL as Silvertips forwards Peter Mueller and John Lammers were named finalists for WHL Awards while defenseman Shaun Heshka and goaltender Leland Irving were named Western Conference All-Stars.

Peter Mueller was named the Western Conference finalist for the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as the Rookie of the Year in the WHL. The Bloomington, Minnesota native finished tied for 2nd in the WHL in Rookie scoring with 58 points. Mueller finished his first season in the WHL with 26 goals and 32 assists which ranked him 4th on the Silvertips in scoring. The Eastern Conference nominee for the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy went to Red Deer Rebels forward Brandon Sutter.

John Lammers was named the Western Conference finalist for the Brad Hornung Trophy as the Most Sportsmanlike Player of the Year in the WHL. Lammers led the Silvertips in scoring with 38 goals and 37 assists for 75 points. Lammers broke team records for most goals and most points in a single season. The Langley, BC native also played in 70 games this season and compiled 25 penalty minutes. The Eastern Conference nominee for the award went to Medicine Hat Tigers defenseman Kris Russell.

The WHL also released their Conference All-Star Teams earlier today with Silvertips defenseman Shaun Heshka earning 1st Team Western Conference Defenseman honors and goaltender Leland Irving who was selected as the 2nd Team Western Conference goaltender.

Heshka finished 2nd in the WHL in defensemen scoring with 59 points. The Melville, SK native tallied 10 goals and led the Silvertips with 49 assists this season. Heshka finished 7th in the WHL in assists with 49.

Goaltender Leland Irving posted 37 wins this season for the Silvertips. The Swan Hills, AB native finished 3rd in the WHL in Wins (37), 3rd in the WHL in Goals Against Average (1.91), 3rd in Save Percentage (.925) and 7th in Shutouts (4). Irving is the second Everett Silvertips netminder to earn Western Conference All-Star honors. At the end of the 2003-2004 season, former Silvertips goaltender Jeff Harvey was selected as a 2nd Team All-Star.
