Mudcats Release Opening Day Roster

Zebulon, NC --- The Cincinnati Reds and Carolina Mudcats have jointly announced the Opening Day roster of their new Double-A affiliate.
The Southern League season commences Thursday at Trustmark Park in Pearl, MS against the Mississippi Braves, part of a season-opening 10-game road swing for manager David Bell's inaugural squad.
The team features two of the Reds' top eight prospects entering 2009 and seven of Cincinnati's Top 30 (Baseball America). Infielder Todd Frazier (Cincinnati #2 Prospect, Baseball America), 3B Juan Francisco (#8, BA), RHP Jordan Smith (#13, BA), SS Zach Cozart (#19, BA), RHP Dallas Buck (#21, BA), OF Chris Heisey (#22, BA) and Sean Watson (#26, BA) highlight the list.
Buck, who started the Futures Game against the Reds at Five County Stadium Friday night, will get the call on Opening Day, followed by LHP Travis Wood, RHP Jordan Smith, RHP James Avery and RHP Misael DeJesus.
Carolina's complete roster is attached in excel format. Media Day will be held at Five County this afternoon from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM ET, with the media encouraged to gather at the third base dugout.
The Mudcats' home opener will be on Monday, April 20th against the Huntsville Stars at 7:15 PM ET.
