NEWS & NOTES:

- Last Time Out - Francisco Jimenez tossed six scoreless innings and the Carolina Mudcats shut out the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, 6-0. Carlos Moncrief belted a two-run homer, and Jeremie Tice drove in a pair with two hits.

- Player of the Week - Jesus Aguilar was named the Carolina League Player of the Week for April 30-May 6. The first baseman has a nine-game hitting streak, longest by any Mudcat this year. He has homered four times during this stretch. Aguilar becomes the second Mudcat to be named Player of the Week alongside Jeremie Tice.

- Welcome Back! - After missing over a week due to a mild hamstring strain, Jeremie Tice picked up where he left off, plating two runs on two hits against Myrtle Beach. Tice has a five game hitting streak, and four straight multi-hit efforts. He's hitting .647 (11x17) during this stretch with nine RBI.

- Lights Out - Shawn Armstrong hasn't allowed a run in 16.1 frames (seven appearances). Dale Dickerson has made five straight appearances without allowing a run, and opposing right-handed hitters have a measly .135 average in 37 at-bats against him.

- Ups and Downs - Since returning from a week-long hiatus, Tony Wolters is hitting .350 (7x20), and is on a five-game hitting streak. Tyler Holt has a hit in six of his last seven games. Holt has reached base in 16 consecutive appearances. On the other side, Jake Lowery is hitless in his last four outings, and is mired in a 3x37 slump.
