
Mudcats cruise to easy win

Zebulon, NC --- John Raynor had four hits while Gaby Sanchez drove in four runs to lead first-place Carolina to an 8-3 victory over Jacksonville before 4,118 fans at Five County Stadium.
Carolina broke open a 1-1 tie with three runs in the sixth against reliever Travis Schlichting (L, 3-2) thanks to a pinch-hit double by Grant Psomas and a two-run single by Raynor. After the Suns (15-22) closed to within 4-3 in the seventh, Carolina scored a run in the bottom half on a double by Sanchez, then put the game away with three runs in the eighth, highlighted by a two-run infield single by Sanchez.
The Mudcats (21-16) won their third straight and maintained a one-game lead over second-place Tennessee, which defeated Mobile on Monday night.
Raynor had a pair of doubles and two singles, along with his 40th stolen base. Sanchez was 2-5 with his 33rd double and four RBI.
Jeff Gogal (W, 5-2) earned the win in relief of starter Willie Glen. Glen worked five innings, allowing one run on five hits.
Tim Corcoran (2-1, 5.40) starts Tuesday night against James Adkins (0-1, 5.79) at 7:15 PM ET.
