SEALING THE WIN - On Friday night at the CenturyTel Center, the Mudbugs began the second half of their regular season with a 2-1 victory over the Oklahoma City Blazers in front of 5,164 fans. In the third period, the Mudbugs capitalized on a four-minute power play chance as Brett Smith stepped into the Oklahoma City zone and blasted a left circle slap shot past goaltender Sean Connors for the 2-1 win. The Mudbugs killed three penalties in the third period and Ken Carroll finished with 20 saves for his ninth victory of the year.
CACCIOLA GETS BIRTHDAY SHUTOUT - On his 24th birthday and "Guaranteed Win Night", goaltender David Cacciola (cass-ee-OLE-uh) earned his first career shutout with 35 saves on Saturday night against the Memphis RiverKings in front of 6,641 fans at the CenturyTel Center. The win was the Mudbugs' fourth in their last five games and maintains their seven point lead in first place in the Northeast Division. After a scoreless first period, Dan Wildfong jammed a loose puck past RiverKings goaltender Michael Dilorenzo at 9:14 for the only goal of the game. Cacciola would make his biggest save of the game minutes later on a shorthanded two-on-one as he stopped Peter Robertson.

POWER PLAY AT BUFFALO WILD WINGS RETURNS NEXT WEEK- Due to the Mudbugs game on Tuesday, "Power Play with Scott Muscutt" will not take place this week. The next edition of the Mudbugs' radio show will be on January 31st at 6:00 p.m. from the Louisiana Boardwalk in Bossier City.
TWO DOLLAR TUESDAYS! - This Tuesday, the Mudbugs will host the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees at 7:05 p.m. at the CenturyTel Center on the first "Two Dollar Tuesday" of the year. Bronze level seats will be available for just two dollars for the special game and those tickets can be purchased through the CenturyTel Center Box Office.
MUDBUGS NOTES - The Mudbugs have now won four of their last five games and have earned at least one point in their last six games..... The Mudbugs are 10-0-2 when leading after two periods of play..... Chris Brassard has points in five of the last six games.
THIS WEEK - This week, the Mudbugs will host Rio Grande Valley on "Two Dollar Tuesday" at 7:05 p.m. Then on Friday, the Mudbugs will travel to Odessa to meet the Odessa Jackalopes at 7:00 p.m. in a game which will be broadcast on KWKH AM 1130. They will then return home for a Saturday night showdown against the Fort Worth Brahmas which will be Mardi Gras Night. The Mudbugs will wear special Mardi Gras jerseys sponsored by Cajun Coffee House, LeMode Shoes & Accessories, and Pretty Cosmetics By Faith and prizes will be given out to the fans with the best Mardi Gras costumes. Then on Sunday, the Memphis RiverKings will visit for a 5:05 p.m. faceoff at the CenturyTel Center and the intermissions will feature the first annual "High School Challenge" with area high school students competing in various competitions for cash prizes.
