NEW YEAR'S EVE THRILLER IN MEMPHIS – The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs continued their week-long road trip on Tuesday with a New Year's Eve contest against the Memphis RiverKings. The defending CHL Champions quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the second period with two power play goals. However, the Mudbugs' line of David Oliver, Trevor Buchanan, and Jason Campbell took control of the game as the trio rattled off three straight goals with the linemates scoring three points each to tie the game early in the third period. But in the middle of the third period, the RiverKings got two goals back to reclaim the lead. Dru Burgess then scored his second goal of the year to cut the lead to one going into the final minute of the game. With goaltender Jonathan Forest pulled and the Mudbugs working on a power play, Tony Bergin's one-timer from the left circle tied the game with just over 27 seconds left in regulation time. After a scoreless overtime, the Mudbugs' struggles in shootouts continued as they suffered their seventh straight shootout loss for a 6-5 final score.

BUGS COME FROM BEHIND AGAIN TO BEAT TULSA – On Thursday, the Mudbugs concluded their road trip with a game against one of the top teams in the CHL, the Tulsa Oilers. For the second consecutive game, the Bugs battled back from an early deficit to take control. Chris Brassard tied the game with two minutes left in the first period and Forbes MacPherson and Jim Sprott added second period goals. But the Oilers were able to score goals in the final minute of both periods one and two to make it 3-3 after two periods. In the third, rookie Jeff Glowa scored the eventual game-winning goal on an assist from Chris Brassard to give the Bugs the lead. David Oliver added an empty netter to hand the Oilers their fourth straight loss, 5-3. Ken Carroll recorded 29 saves for his ninth win of the season.

AUSTIN PREVAILS IN GOALIE SHOWDOWN – The Mudbugs returned home on Friday to meet the best team in the Central Hockey League, the Austin Ice Bats, for the first time this season. Tab Lardner scored at 15:34 of the first period for Austin and the rest of the game belonged to Ken Carroll and Ice Bats netminder Matt Barnes. The two goaltenders traded saves for over two periods and Barnes emerged with a 1-0 shutout win. The shutout was his sixth of the year and gave Austin a league-high 24 wins. The loss also marked the first time the Mudbugs had been shutout at home since January 25, 2002. Barnes made 34 saves, including 13 in each of the final two periods.

RAYZ STUN MUDBUGS AT HOME – On Saturday, the Mudbugs were forced to put together their third comeback of the week but fell just short in their second meeting of the year against the Corpus Christi Rayz. After an early Rayz goal from Trent Brandvold, Jason Campbell tied the game in the second period with a power play goal assisted by Chris Brassard and Craig Minard. After Corpus Christi scored twice in the second period, the Mudbugs mounted a comeback in the third with David Oliver jamming in a Forbes MacPherson rebound for his sixth goal with the team. Six minutes later, the newest member of the Mudbugs, Gavin Hodgson, recorded his first goal of the season and tied the game at three. However, with just 50 seconds remaining in the third period a blue line slapshot by Jaroslav Jabrocky beat Jonathan Forest for the game-winning goal.
