Mudbugs Lose in a Shootout 3-2 to Youngstown

BOSSIER CITY, LA -- Sixty minutes weren't enough for the Bugs and Hounds as Youngstown escaped CenturyTel Center with a 3-2 shootout win. The Mudbugs picked up a point and are now tied for first place with Memphis.

Neither team was able to score until Chris Richards took advantage of a turnover in front of the Mudbugs net on the power play. He lifted a wrister over the right shoulder of John DeCaro at14:09. Cam Abbott had a breakaway opportunity but was denied on a tremendous kick save by Youngstown goaltender Brad Roberts.

The Mudbugs finally broke through and put one on the scoreboard in the second period. Jeremy Downs slapshot on the power play from the right point rifled past Brad Roberts at 15:03, his third goal of the year.

Brad Patterson scored in the third period to give the lead back to Youngstown, but Downs answered again for Bossier-Shreveport on the power play.

The game progressed to OT and then to a shootout for the second time in two weeks. Chris Richards scored the game winning goal as Brad Roberts denied the final two shooters for Bossier-Shreveport.
