Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Southaven, Miss. - Trevor Cunning made 33 saves and John DiPace scored twice to lead the Rocky Mountain Rage to a 6-1 win over the Memphis RiverKings at the DeSoto Civic Center. The win is the Rage's first since a 2-1 shootout decision against the Wichita Thunder on Feb. 2.

The RiverKings drew first blood on the power play when Derek Landmesser's shot from the point deflected off Rage d-man Kyle Kos and back past Cunning at 10:01 of the first. Rocky Mountain responded to tie the contest at 14:51, though, when Trevor Weisgerber dragged the puck through the slot on his backhand and finished top shelf for his 16th goal of the year.

The Rage broke the 1-1 stalemate in the final 10 seconds of the second period. Nathan Rosychuk's back-door pass across the slot glanced off a skate right to Matic Kralj, who made no mistake from between the circles for his 10th of the year at 19:53.

Holding a one-goal lead into the third, Rocky Mountain broke the game open during the final period, out-shooting Memphis, 21-9. DiPace lit the lamp twice at 1:56 and 10:53 to give the club a pair of insurance goals. The RiverKings pulled their goaltender, Kevin Schieve, trailing, 4-1, but Chip Dunleavy quickly put the game on ice with an empty-netter at 16:47. Mark Wires finished the scoring on the power play at 19:35 for the 6-1 final.

The win moves the Rage to 12-32-5 on the season and snaps an eight-game winless skid. The team remains in fourth place in the Northwest Division with 27 points in the standings.

The Rage now return home to Broomfield Event Center for a two-game set against the Lubbock Cotton Kings on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 27 and 28, at 7:05 p.m. each evening.

The game on the 28th is a make-up game from the originally scheduled Dec. 21st contest between the two clubs that was postponed due to the Holiday Blizzard. Season ticket holders (and others, if applicable) should use their tickets dated Dec. 21 for the game on Feb. 28.
