Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
PARK CITY, KS -- The Mudbugs scored six consecutive goals and Jason Williamson had four points as Bossier-Shreveport beat Wichita 7-5 in game four, evening the series at two.
Bossier-Shreveport established their physical presence early and often but it was Wichita who again took advantage in the offensive zone. George Halkidis scored at 3:20 in the first period squeezing a shot through the pads of John DeCaro. The Thunder scored again when Jason Duda re-directed a shot from the point by DeCaro at 7:24. The Mudbugs hard work finally paid off in the final seconds of the first period, Dan Wildfong lifted a rebound over Wichita goalie Jon Horrell at 19:53 to bring the Bugs within one going in to the first intermission.
The Mudbugs broke free with a three goal second period. Jason Basile and Jason Williamson scored on the power play. Chris Abbott deflected a shot from the point by Quade Lightbody to extend the Mudbug lead to two.
Daniel Pegoraro scored twenty seconds in to the third period off a sloppy turnover in front of the Wichita net. Cam Abbott's goal at 4:46 of the third period was the final straw for Wichita Head Coach Mark French, who pulled Horrell in favor of goaltender Sebastien LaPlante. The Mudbugs gave up three consecutive goals as Wichita drew within one, but Cam Abbott's second goal of the game iced it at 19:13.
