
Mudbugs Come Up Short in Opener

Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs came up just short in their season opener versus the Oklohoma City Blazers, losing 5-3. The Mudbugs were forced to add several players to the roster only 24 hours prior to the game due to immigration holds.
The Mudbugs led the scoring in the the first period on a power play goal by Dan Wildfong at 14:17, Joe Ori and Jason Basile assisted on the goal. Okalahoma City would answer on a power play of their own. Marty Standish beat John DeCaro at 16:22.
After killing off a 5 on 3 power play, the Mudbugs took the lead on a goal by Karlis Zirnis at 16:07 in the second period. Zirnis beat Blazers goaltender Sebastien Centomo stick side to put the Mudbugs up by a goal.
The third period would prove to be the difference maker in the game. Karlis Zirnis would score one more time in third period, catching the Centomo out of the net. The Blazers would then score three consecutive goals courtesy of Peter Robertson, Marty Standish and Jared Dumba to take the lead. An empty net goal iced it for Okalhoma City. The Mudbugs look to even their record tomorrow night in Austin. The puck drops at 7:30pm.
