Mississippi RiverKings News Release

(Bossier City, LA) ---- Ryan Held netted his 12th goal of the season for the RiverKings, but it was not enough as Bossier-Shreveport won a 3-1 meeting against Mississippi in Bossier City, Louisiana on Thursday, November 19.

The game was the first of a home-and-home series between the Northern Conference rivals.

Bossier-Shreveport scored first late in the opening period of play, as Brett Smith poked the puck into the net with 44 seconds remaining in the period for a 1-0 lead after twenty minutes of play.

Travis Clayton gave Bossier-Shreveport a 2-0 lead seven minutes into the second period, but the RiverKings closed the gap late in the period on a power play goal from Ryan Held. Steve Makway and Derek Landmesser earned assists on the goal.

Landmesser is now one away from 400 career assists in the Central Hockey League. When that happens, he'll be only the tenth CHL player to reach that level.

The Mudbugs finished the night with an empty-net goal from Neil Clark for the final 3-1 margin.

John DeCaro (5-3-0) stopped 40 shots on net, as the RiverKings outshot the Mudbugs by a 41-24 margin. Mississippi's Ray Jean made 21 saves as his record fell to 7-5-0.

Each team scored once on the power play. The RiverKings were 1-for-8 with the man advantage and Bossier-Shreveport was 1-for-5.

With the loss, the RiverKings fell to 7-8-0 for the season, while Bossier-Shreveport improved to 6-6-0. The same two teams meet again tomorrow night in Southaven, starting at 7:05 PM.
