
Mudbugs Blank RiverKings 4-0

(Bossier City, LA) --- The Mississippi RiverKings fell to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 4-0 on Friday night in Bossier City, Louisiana, marking the first time all season that the RiverKings had been shut out in a contest. Mississippi fell to 43-17-3 with the loss.
Bossier-Shreveport scored first in the final minute of the opening period on a goal from Joe Ori at 19:08 for a 1-0 lead at the first intermission. Ori beat the RiverKings defense and broke in for his ninth goal of the year.
In the second period, the Mudbugs extended the lead to 2-0 with a power play goal from Joe Blaznek, who wristed a shot past RiverKings goaltender Kevin Beech at 4:38 of the period.
Bossier-Shreveport added insurance goals in the third period from Kevin Cooper and an empty-net goal from Chris Brassard for the final results.
Mississippi out shot the Mudbugs by a 45-38 margin, but were 0-for-6 on the power play. Bossier-Shreveport scored once in seven power play opportunities.
Kevin Beech saw his record fall to 35-12-3 in goal for the RiverKings, while Mudbug goaltender Ken Carroll improved to 21-8-3.
The RiverKings finish up the regular season at home tomorrow night against the Tulsa Oilers, beginning at 7:05 PM at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. Fan Appreciation Night is presented by 95.3 FM, "The Rebel," and will include a Miller Lite Warmup Jersey Auction after the game and the Kooky Canuck "Kookamonga Challenge" seven-pound burger eating contest.
