Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (March 19)-David Cacciola led the Brahmas Thursday night for a franchise record, 42 victories in a season, in a 5-0 shutout over the Laredo Bucks.
It wasn't until the second period when the Brahmas found their scoring touch as the League's leading goal scoring defenseman; Kevin McLeod scored a powerplay goal. The Southeast divisional foes continued to battle into the final period when Texas' offensive firepower exploded. Forwards Matt Quinn and Jason Deitsch scored within one minute of each other to give the Brahmas a comfortable 3-0 lead. With Cacciola steady in net the Brahmas took advantage with their 3rd ranked powerplay, as McLeod scored his second goal of the evening to give Texas the four goal cushion.
Scott Sheppard also scored a powerplay goal, his third point of the evening (1 G, 2 A) for the 5-0 win. Netminder David Cacciola stopped all 16 shots faced to surpass the franchise record for all time shutouts (5) and tied the single season shutout record (3).
The Brahmas will play their final regular season game on the road against Rio Grande Valley at 7:35 PM Saturday night before postseason play begins. The Brahmas first home playoff game is set for Saturday, March 28 at 7:05 PM followed by Game 2 on Sunday, March 29 at 3:05 PM.
