FORT MILL, S.C. - The Toledo Mud Hens were all over the Knights from the beginning of the game and did not let up as they defeated Charlotte 9-2 at Knights Stadium. The win was the first of the series for the Mud Hens.

Toledo put up a five run 2nd inning on Knights starting pitcher Brandon Hynick. The inning started off with back-to-back walks followed by an RBI double from Max St. Pierre and a 2-RBI triple from Justin Henry. The Mud Hens worked four walks from Hynick in just 3.0 innings pitched.

The only bright spots from Charlotte came from solo home runs from Stefan Gartrell and Jeremy Reed. The home run from Gartrell was his team leading 23rd of the season and the second in his last four games.

Toledo's Charlie Furbush earned the win as he improved to 2-1 on the season. Furbush pitched 6.0 innings and allowed just two runs off five hits to go along with five strikeouts. Three different Mud Hens relievers combined to pitch the final 3.0 innings and let only two men reach base.
