Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Today's Game- The Muckdogs finishes a three game series against the Connecticut Tigers, NYPL affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. This is the only meeting of the season between the two teams.
That was yesterday- Denis Karas hit a three run bomb to straighaway center field in the fourth inning to tie the game 3-3. The Muckdogs bullpen did not give up any runs after the fourth. Denis Karas got on base to start off the ninth with an error, then a ball that Matt Brooks hit to deep left-center drove him in to give the Muckdogs the 4-3 lead. Elkin Alcala shut the door in the ninth to give Batavia the W.
Donadio digging in- Michael Donadio has put himself on a six-game hit streak. He's tallied six hits, and has crossed the plate four times in that span. He left St. John's with the second most all-time hits with 268.
Bringing back big bats- Both JD Osborne and Jerar Encarnacion are in lineup for Batavia in today's matchup for the third straight day. Encarnacion had the league's top average before going down, and Osborne had hits in eight of his last ten before leaving the lineup.
Runs, Runs, Runs- Batavia has some of the top scorers in the league, with Sean Reynolds sitting in second place with 19 runs scored, Jerar Encarnacion with 15 in fifth, and Demetrius Sims in sixth with 13. The Muckdogs have three of the top six run scorers in the league, and sit in fifth in total runs scored with 122 total runs this season.
Beginning from behind- The Muckdogs have had trouble with giving up early leads in ballgames. Batavia has trailed after the fifth inning on 15 different occasions so far this season, and have gone 4-11 in those contests.
Recent Roster Action- On July 13th, RHP Jameson McGrane was called up to Greensboro.
Marlins Update- The Marlins had Thursday off. They host the Philadelphia Phillies in Marlins park tonight.
