Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release
NORWICH, Ct. - The Connecticut Tigers, Class A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, officially unveiled their New England Lobster Roll jerseys on Friday. The team will take the field on Saturday, July 14 at 6:05 p.m. for one night only as the New England Lobster Rolls to highlight New England Night at Dodd Stadium sponsored by Samuel Adams and their New England IPA.
The jerseys were produced exclusively for the Connecticut Tigers by OT Sports. The on-field hats, created by New Era, were first revealed in May featuring the Lobster Rolls logo designed by Brandiose in San Diego. The CT Tigers and Brandiose previously collaborated on logos for Dodd Stadium, the 2013 New York-Penn League All-Star Game, and alternative logos for the CT Tigers. Photos of the Lobster Rolls uniforms are attached to this email.
Following Saturday's game against the Vermont Lake Monsters, the Tigers will sell their official game-used New England Lobster Roll jerseys online at cttigers.com and inside The Tiger Den Store at Dodd Stadium. Fans can also purchase official Lobster Rolls merchandise including hats, t-shirts, and more at golobsterrolls.com.
"We wanted to come up with something new and fun for our fans to celebrate some of the very best of our region and it doesn't get much more New England than baseball and lobster on a summer evening," said Connecticut Tigers General Manager Dave Schermerhorn. "Lobster is a common thread that connects all of New England but it's also particularly relevant here in Southeastern Connecticut as many elements of our lives are impacted by the shoreline of Long Island Sound."
The Lobster Roll is a sandwich native to New England, made of lobster meat, and served on a grilled hot dog-style bun. In Southeastern Connecticut, many restaurants and jobs revolve around delicious lobsters. The shorelines of Long Island Sound, in Connecticut towns such as Stonington, Noank, Mystic, and New London, are particularly influenced by the fishing industry.
First pitch between the Lobster Rolls and Lake Monsters is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. on Saturday with gates opening 5 p.m. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a pair of official New England Lobster Rolls sunglasses. LobsterCraft, a local gourmet seafood truck, will serve authentic Lobster Rolls to fans at Dodd Stadium.
The Connecticut Tigers are the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Connecticut. Individual tickets for 2018 home games, season memberships to "The Club," ticket mini-plans, and Tigers team merchandise are now on sale at The Tiger Den Store in Dodd Stadium, over the phone at 860-887-7962, and online at CTTigers.com.
