Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (September 22)-It's official: the Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced Wednesday afternoon the return of the franchise's leader in six categories, Chad Woollard, for the 2010-11 season.

Woollard, a former member of the Brahmas during their reign in Fort Worth for five seasons (2000-2005) will receive a homecoming of sorts following a five season departure. The high profile winger holds the Brahmas' franchise records in: games played (467), points (308), goals (132), shots (1029), game winning goals (15) and powerplay goals (41).

Last season Woollard led all Corpus Christi scorers averaging over a point a game, with 64 points (40 G, 24 A) in 57 games. His 40 goals ranked second in the league and despite bowing out early to the Brahmas in the postseason, he led the IceRays in scoring with 3 points (1 G, 2 A) in two games.

As a member of the Muskegon Lumberjacks in 2008-09, Woollard posted 57 points (33 G, 24 A) in 50 regular season games and 6 points (2 G, 4 A) in 10 games in the playoffs. In 2007-08, the Durham, ONT native joined the Mississippi RiverKings (CHL) where he led the 'Kings with 37 goals and was the ranked second in scoring with 68 points (37 G, 31 A). In the playoffs, Woollard and RiverKings faced the Brahmas in the mini round where they lost, despite his two goal effort in the series.

Woollard has nine hat tricks as a player in the CHL, including four as a Brahma. Last year he nailed three hat tricks with the IceRays, all against Southern Conference teams.

Following his career in Fort Worth, Woollard played with the Quad City Mallards for two seasons (2005-2007) and recorded personal best numbers, leading all Mallard scorers for two consecutive years. In his first year the 6-foot-3 forward had 76 points (44 G, 32 A) in 76 games and 12 points (8 G, 4 A) in postseason play. His second season with Quad City, Woollard had 82 points (35 G, 47 A) in 69 games and earned a call up from the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Woollard set his mark in professional hockey as a member of the Fort Worth Brahmas where he accumulated 308 points (132 G, 176 A) in 467 games. In 2001-02 he joined the Utah Grizzlies, the Stars AHL affiliate at the time, for a pair of games after competing at their training camp in the fall. Woollard has also been called up by the St. John's Maple Leafs (AHL).

The beginning of Woollard's professional career came in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) in 1999-2000 when he skated for the Jackson Bandits and Greensboro Generals. In 32 games, he had 14 points (6 G, 8 A).

"This is a great opportunity for Woolley and his family to return back to the area they consider home," said Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong regarding the comeback of Woollard.

"He is a fierce competitor who has proven to be an offensive threat in this league. Having played and coached against him, it will be nice to have him on our depth chart this season," Wildfong joked.

Woollard is the fourteenth announced signing by the Brahmas for the 2010-11 campaign. Texas will have their first preseason game on Friday, October 8 when they host cross town rivals, Allen Americans for a 7:30 PM start. All tickets to the game are just $10.
