Vermont Mountaineers News Release
MONTPELIER, Vt. - Mountaineers' closer Sam Delaplane (San Jose, Calif. / Eastern Michigan) and leftfielder Nick Ruppert (La Mesa, Calif. / Dartmouth) were named to the New England Collegiate Baseball League's (NECBL) Weekly Honor Roll for Week 7 of the 2015 season.
Delaplane, who has been nearly unhittable for much of the summer earned a win and a save in two relief outings on the week. The righthander dealt four and two-thirds scoreless innings out of the pen, allowing just two hits and one walk while amassing eight strikeouts.
Ruppert, who leads the team in runs batted in, with 15 in as many games, hit .533 on the week (8-15). He scored six runs and knocked in five others and brought his average up to .375 (18-48) on the summer.
The two players became the first members of the Mountaineers to earn league attention since starting pitcher Sean Leland (Orland Park, Ill. / Louisville) was named NECBL Pitcher of the Week in Week 5 of the season.
