TCL Brazos Valley Bombers

Mound Misery Holds Back Clinching Celebration

June 24, 2023 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Brazos Valley Bombers News Release

Seguin, TX - In what seemed to be a possible incoming celebration in West Texas, the last-place team in the TCL bounced back from down as the Brazos Valley Bombers, the league's top team, were defeated by the Seguin River Monsters Saturday by a final score of 11 to 4. The loss ended the Bombers' longest winning streak of the year at six and prevented them from becoming the first team in the league.

Brazos Valley were able to take the lead early once again as the first TCL RBI from newcomer Jacob Guerrero and a sacrifice fly from Jordan Medellin provided offense to get the Bombers to a 4 to 1 lead halfway through the ballgame on Friday. On the mound was a different story, as after a solid 5 inning outing from starter Zach Norris, bullpen woes would hit the Bombers in the final three offensive innings for Seguin as relievers Dalton LeBlanc and Ryan Pherson combined to give up 9 of the 11 River Monster runs.

The Bombers, who are now 13-8 in 2023, remain atop the league and now hold just a game lead on the Baton Rouge Rougarou for first, whose game was rained on Saturday in Louisiana. Brazos Valley have a day off on Sunday but returns home Monday Night, where they will take on the other Louisiana club in the Acadian Cane Cutters, who sit in third, as they look to clinch their spot in the 2023 TCL Postseason and get back to their winning ways at Edible Field. First Pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Monday Night in Bryan and can be heard on 1150 AM/9.37FM The Zone and seen on TCL TV.
