Motor City Mechanics News Release

REDFORD, MICH. – The Motor City Mechanics write a page in franchise history with the signing of the team's first player – Canadian Jeremy Law. The 24-year-old Law joins the Mechanics following a stellar senior season playing for Concordia College of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). Law was signed to a one-year contract.

"We're very excited about Jeremy's signing and what he brings to the ice," said Head Coach Garry Unger. "Jeremy excels within the team concept. He's got good size, and his poise, speed, leadership and exceptional passing skills are highly desired attributes when putting together a competitive team." Law was hand picked by Coach Unger and looks to play an intricate role on a team built upon speed and an open style of play.

At 6'4" and 205 lbs., Law is likely to play defenseman for the Mechanics. Despite starting his hockey career playing as a forward, Law accumulated most of his accolades on the other side of the puck. Last season playing in the MIAC he scored 12 points and earned top team honors as a scoring defenseman. For his efforts, Law and a short list of other elite players currently await consideration for the conference's top defensive honors.

Prior to playing hockey in the MIAC, Law's hockey resume included playing for the Western States Hockey, Kootenay International Junior Hockey (KIJHL), Southern Elite Hockey and Canadian Junior B Hockey leagues. As a member of the WSHL Albuquerque Ice Breakers, Law scored a total of 115 points during the 1999-2000 season making him 2nd overall in league points.

A product of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Law, who has played since the age of three, hails from a family tradition of hockey players. His father, Ken Law, is the former Head Coach of the KIJHL Summerland Sting, and current Assistant Coach for the Penticton Valley Vees of the British Columbia Hockey League. Following his playing career, Law aspires to follow in his father's footsteps and coach the game he loves. Law currently resides in Penticton, B.C., where he played high school hockey.

The Motor City Mechanics are a professional AA hockey team competing in the United Hockey League's Central Division. The 2004/05 season marks the team's inaugural season, which starts October 15. The Mechanics play all 40 home games at the Great Lakes Sports City Superior Arena in Fraser, Michigan. For more information, call 866-794-3366 or visit www.motorcitymechanics.com.
