Adirondack Frostbite News Release

Glens Falls, NY – The Adirondack Frostbite, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), today signed center David Burgess, it was announced by Frostbite Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Marc Potvin. This will be Burgess' second season with the Frostbite and third as a professional. As per team policy, terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.

Burgess, 26, finished last season leading all Adirondack rookies in scoring with 31 points (11g, 20a). The Killarny, Manitoba native finished 13th among rookie scorers in only 58 games. He missed 18 games due to injury.

"It was difficult to judge David's performance last season, due to his reoccurring injuries," said Potvin. "I believe he is a better player and he should be a huge contributor to our club this season."

Burgess was acquired from Muskegon prior to the 2003-04 season for a first round pick in the 2004 North American Amateur Draft. Burgess began his pro career with the Fury on March 11, 2003 and averaged just under a point per game in seven regular season contests and just over a point per game in nine playoff games with the team during the 2002-03 campaign. The Canadian's 10 playoff points was fourth best on the team.

In his senior season at McGill University, the 5'10'' 180-pounder was voted to the first team CIS All-Canadian team as well as first team OUA East All-Star for a second straight year. Burgess led the team in scoring with 52 points (13g, 39a) and finished third in OUA conference scoring, averaging 1.70 points per game.

In addition to those accomplishments, Burgess led the league in assists his junior and senior seasons, while serving as team captain. He was also named McGill's MVP for the 2000-01 and 2001-02 seasons. The centerman left the school as the all-time leader in assists with 171 and ranked second among all-time leading scorers with 262 points (91g, 171a). He received the McGill 1938 Champions Award for the 2000-01 season, which is given for leadership, athletics and academics.

Burgess is the tenth player to sign with the Frostbite for the 2004-05 season. He joins forwards Hugo Belanger, Frank Littlejohn, Trevor Segstro and Sylvain Cloutier, defensemen Scott Drevitch, Kamil Kuriplach, Steve O'Rourke and Henrik Bergfors and goalie Derek Gustafson.
