Belleville Bulls News Release

OTTAWA, ON - The Belleville Bulls travel to our nation's capital Friday night for their first contest against the Ottawa 67's. The Bulls are looking to build some momentum after a 3-2 at home shootout win over the Kingston Frontenacs. The first of eight meetings between the two clubs is set for 7:30 from TD place.

The 67's have had a full weeks rest after falling to the aforementioned Kingston Frontenacs in another shootout. Right winger Ben Fanjoy buried his fourth of the season at 11:47 in the third before Kingston forward Ryan Kujawinski beat Ottawa netminder Liam Herbst with just just 68 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. Kujawinski eventually scored the shootout winner as well.

The 67's are led by 1996-born centre Dante Salituro who has posted 13 goals and 5 helpers in 16 games played. Over-ager Erik Bradford has chipped in with 6 markers and 8 assists in 16 games played. Etobicoke native, Herbst sits 8th on the OHL goaltenders list with a 2.82 goals against average and a 0.910 save percentage.

Friday's game marks the first of six in a row at home for the 67's.

"After a tough start they have been very strong over the last few weeks. They are a team with great speed and high skill and they are perfect at home so this will be a great test for us." said Head Coach George Burnett Friday morning.

The Bulls are looking to add another two points before the defending OHL champions visit the Yardmen Arena on Saturday night. Brett Welychka scored his first goal at home to help the Bulls defeat the Kingston Frontenacs in a shootout thriller on Wednesday night. David Tomasek scored at 15:27 in the final frame to tie the game at 2. Welychka would go on to score the shootout winner. Charlie Graham made 38 saves in the win.

Dallas Stars prospect Remi Elie continues to lead his club with 11 goals and 13 assists. The OHL's top defenceman, Jordan Subban follows closely behind with 10 goals and 13 helpers. Burlington native Stephen Harper has stepped up in the absence of some key forwards of late, burring 4 goals in as many games. Harper has also added 2 assists.

"He is a big, big guy that is in great shape and can play big minutes. He is certainly playing with a great deal of confidence and is excited about the opportunity to lead the way up front." added Burnett about Harper.

Forwards Chad Heffernan and Adam Laishram will continue to watch from the sidelines with upper body injuries. Toronto native Charlie Graham will start between the pipes.

-- The Bulls return home on Saturday night to take on the defending OHL champion Guelph Storm in our annual Pucks 4 Pawz night with Hillcrest Animal Hospital in support of Fixed Fur Life. Fans will have the opportunity to bid on a signed, game-worn Charlie Graham jersey and pictures of some of your favourite Bulls with animals adopted through Fixed Fur Life. Tickets are still available, stop by or call the Bulls Box Office at (613) 966-8338 for more information.
