
Morin Named In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays announced today that Assistant Captain Travis Morin has been named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Dec. 8-14.
Morin had four goals and seven points to help the Stingrays sweep two games at South Division leader Florida to improve to 14-6-2 and move within two points of the Everblades.
After assisting on two goals in a 3-0 win on Friday, the 24 year old scored a career-high four goals, including the game winner, and tied his career best with five points in a 7-3 win on Saturday.
He leads the Stingrays and is tied for fourth in the league with 18 assists while his 26 points in 22 games leads the team and is tied for 13th in the ECHL.
Selected in the ninth round (263rd overall) by Washington in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and on an NHL contract with the Capitals, Morin led the Stingrays and was third in the ECHL with 84 points (34g-50a) in 68 regular season games as a rookie in 2007-08. He had 17 points (7g-17a) in 20 Kelly Cup Playoff games for South Carolina and also played in four games with Hershey. He was selected to the ECHL All-Star Game and finished tied for fourth in voting for ECHL Rookie of the Year while being named Plus Performer of the Month and Rookie of the Month for October 2007.
On behalf of Travis Morin, a case of pucks will be donated to a North Charleston area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier of the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 20,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
The Rays will be back in action next Friday when they play host to Northern Division foes, the Elmira Jackals. Game time will be at 7:05 P.M. You can hear the game live on REAL 1340 starting with the Benitos pre-game show beginning at 6:50.
