Worcester Tornadoes News Release
WORCESTER, MA--- Another disappointing outing from the back end of the Tornado bullpen prevented Worcester from ending their downward spiral. The streak continues to seven with this afternoon's 7-4 loss.
Worcester got on the board first with a Vinny Pennell single in the second against Brockton left-handed Craig Anderson. Anderson threw three innings before Buster Lussier took over and cruised through three before hitting a bit of a rough patch in the seventh and eighth. Alex Trezza's sacrifice fly in the seventh put Worcester within one, and Nick Salotti's twenty-third double of the year put the team up 4-3 heading to the ninth.
Rich Gedman elected to go with eleven save man Santiago Ramirez (4-5) instead of Anthony Sullivan who pitched an inning last night. Ramirez walked the first two men, allowed an infield single to Dom Ramos followed by a two run double by right fielder Keith Brachold to put Brockton up 6-4. Chris Colabello's second error of the day on a martini glass shift-beating ball to the left side from left handed first baseman Clyde Williams sealed the scoring. Gerry Dunn's twenty-third save in a perfect ninth ended the contest 7-4. Keith Noe (5-2) picked up the victory.
The final tilt of the regular season begins tomorrow at a special Labor Day time of 3:05 against the Rox. Baron Short (1-1) will opposes Jeff Long (6-4).
