Morales, Muzziotti Power R-Phils to Victory

The Reading Fightin Phils topped the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 2-1 on Tuesday night in the final series of 2021. Simon Muzziotti had a two-hit night in his Double-A debut including the winning hit. Francisco Morales was dominant, while Brian Marconi recorded his league-leading 14th save of the season.

Reading scored early in the third to start things off. Luke Miller walked and Grenny Cumana was hit by a pitch. With his second hit of the day, Muzziotti drove them both home with a double to left center.

That score remained until the bottom of the seventh, when Binghamton cut Reading's lead in half. Yoel Romero notched an RBI single to make it 2-1.

Morales was stellar throwing five innings of one hit ball. He struck out nine in his final start of the season. Zach Warren pitched 1.1 innings of work letting up two hits and one earned run. Kyle Dohy finished the seventh with a pair of strikeouts and went through a clean eighth. Marconi (S, 14) threw a quick ninth to save the win.

The R-Phils take on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies on Wednesday at 6:35pm.
