LEOMINSTER, Mass. - (August 3, 2013) The Dirt Dawgs and the North Shore Navigators have completed a trade to send outfielder Jamill Moquete to the Navigators.

The entire Dirt Dawgs organization has enjoyed watching Jamill Moquete display his talent this summer, said Scott Lettre, Director of Baseball Operations, We all wish him the best in his future with the Navigators, and where ever his next stop may be.

Jamill Moquete has had a tremendous season with the Dirt Dawgs, recording a .350 average, 34 runs, 49 hits, 10 doubles, 7 home runs, and 29 RBI in 41 games. Jamill and former Dirt Dawgs teammate Josh Raymond, are tied atop the home run leader board heading into today's play. He is also in the top five in the league in batting average, hits and RBI.

Jamill is a great all around player, he played the game the right way and was a pleasure to coach, said Nick Barese, Manager of the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs, I wish him the best in his future and the best of luck with the North Shore Navigators.

In return, the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs received outfielder Derek Hirsch from the Navigators. Hirsch is a Sophomore from St. Thomas Aquinas College, located in Sparkill, NY. Derek started 32 games for the Spartans, batting .375 competing in the NCAA Division II East Coast Conference, and resides in Melville, NY. Since joining the Navigators earlier this month, Derek has posted a .340 batting average, with 18 hits, 1 double, and 4 RBI.

We are excited to be receiving a player like Hirsch, and are looking forward to seeing what he can do this last week of the regular season for us, said Lettre.

Moquete commenting on his time in Leominster, "I have loved being a member of the Dirt Dawgs, everyone has been terrific. I am especially grateful to my host family for their generosity and support. This is an opportunity for me to finish out the season close to home, and I believe North Shore has a great chance in the playoffs."

Owner, John Morrison, on the trade, "Everyone familiar with Jamill and his background, knows this is a young man you want to root for. He is a top player in the league so it was difficult to consider including him in a trade, but with today's postseason roster deadline, it gives him a guaranteed opportunity to showcase his talent in the postseason, and it gives us a chance to get to know another talented outfielder who can help us next summer."

The Navigators are excited about the player they are receiving to finish the season and to help them in the playoffs.

We are excited to have a player of Jamill's talen help us compete for the Championship, said Pat Salvi, Owner of the North Shore Navigators.

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs play at historic, and newly renovated, Doyle Field in Leominster, MA and are a 2012 expansion franchise in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League, a nine-team league dedicated to developing college baseball talent. The Dirt Dawgs have two more home games remaining on August 6th and 7th before winding down the 2013 regular season on the road on August 10th.
