Wachusett Dirt Dawgs News Release
On Thursday, July 31st the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs defeated the Worcester Bravehearts, walking off in 12 innings with the 7-6 win. Fans in attendance also won off the field as Community Health Connections provided complimentary blood pressure screenings, a service sponsored by Neighborhood Health Plan. One lucky fan also received four tickets to a Lowell Spinners game for their participation, courtesy of Enterprise Bank.
The partnership falls in line with the Dirt Dawgs recent push to promote non-profit and health conscious organizations. The team's marketing manager, Kaylee Grosso, praised the organization for their efforts. "It was a pleasure to work with Neighborhood Health Plan and to be able to provide this service to the community", she commented. "We look forward to continuing our partnership in years to come."
Community Health Connections, a local provider with sites in Gardner, Fitchburg and Leominster, helped to facilitate the screenings at Doyle field. The group will host a 5K walk/ run on September 13, 2014 at their Fitchburg headquarters. More information about the event, and the center, can be found at: http://www.chcfhc.org.
Neighborhood Health Plan is a not-for-profit health plan that provides coverage to over 300,000 commercial and MassHealth members. For more than 25 years, employers, individuals, and families have turned to NHP for health care coverage that is high quality, affordable, and easy to understand and manage.
In the end, fans were fortunate to have their blood pressure checked prior to the game, as the contest provided all of the excitement expected from the I-190 series rivalry. After twelve innings of play amounting to just under three and a half hours of competition, the Dirt Dawgs earned the walk off victory thanks to a solo homerun from Mike Rizzitello, a catcher out of Dowling College. The Dawgs are currently in their final week of regular season play and looking to make the last push for a playoff spot. Their final regular season home date is scheduled for Friday, August 8th. They'll host a double header against the Martha's Vineyard Sharks starting at 5 PM at Doyle Field.
