Wachusett Dirt Dawgs News Release
LEOMINSTER, Mass (August 5, 2014). The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs fell in the late innings to the North Shore Navigators by a score of 8-4. The Navigators scored six runs across the eighth and ninth innings to take the win.
Richard Fecteau (Salem State) gave the Dirt Dawgs the early lead by hitting a two-run home run in the third. Joe Breen (Southern Connecticut) also went 1-4 with an RBI. Evan Mackintosh (UMass Amherst) pitched 5 2/3 innings only giving up two runs, both earned. He also struck out four and gave up six hits.
The Navigators were led by Cam Hanley (Northeastern) who had three hits and scored a run. Joe Coyne (St. Joseph's College) and Chad Martin (Bowdoin) each had a home run in the ninth inning. Rich Baerga (St. Thomas Aquinas) and Matt Ramsey (Wofford) combined for four RBIs.
The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs will travel to face the Pittsfield Suns on August 6th at 7:00. The Dirt Dawgs return home on Friday August 8th for a double header against the Martha's Vineyard Sharks, with the first game starting at 5:00.
