
Mooseheads sign goaltender Nathan Downing

Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Marcel Patenaude announced today that the Mooseheads have signed 18-year-old goaltender Nathan Downing to a Free Agent Form.
Downing will be placed on the Mooseheads' protected list as an affiliated player. He is currently playing with the East Hants Junior Penguins of the Nova Scotia Junior B Hockey League. Appearing in six games (365 minutes) with the Penguins, Downing has a goals against average of 4.11, with a sparkling 0.901 saves percentage, allowing 25 goals from 256 shots.
Downing played with Pictou County Weeks Midget AAA in the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League during the 2004-2005 season, with a goals against average of 2.00 in 1410 minutes of play during the regular season, and a 3.29 goals against average in 420 minutes during playoffs.
"Our scouting staff is always looking for deserving players at all eligible levels of hockey and adding Downey to our protected list is a result of these efforts," Patenaude said. "We would like to thank the East Hants Penguins for their cooperation in this matter."
