Mooseheads add Jeff MacLeod to coaching staff

Halifax Mooseheads General Manager Marcel Patenaude announced today the addition of Jeff MacLeod to the Mooseheads' coaching staff.

The 35-year-old Dartmouth, NS, native will join Head Coach Cam Russell and Assistants Chris Donnelly and Patrick Dallaire on the Mooseheads coaching staff and will work with the Mooseheads' defencive corps. To this end MacLeod brings a solid hockey background to the Mooseheads. He played a year with the Bellville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League and joined the Acadia University Hockey Team in the 1993-94 season, recording five goals and 25 assists in 25 games.

A two-year stint with the Canadian National team on the International stage followed, where MacLeod accumulated 11 goals and 11 assists in 51 games.

More recently, he played in 335 games in the German Extra League over seven years from 1996-97 to 2003-04, mainly with Kassel Huskies, totaling 27 goals and 59 assists for 86 points, plus two goals and three assists in 30 playoff games. He also played a year in England with Newcastle Cobras, with 13 goals, 14 assists in 36 games.

"With Head Coach Cam Russell concentrating on overall team strategies, Chris Donnelly looking after the forwards and Patrick Dallaire the goaltenders, we felt we needed to add someone to oversee our defence." Patenaude said. "We feel Jeff MacLeod has the necessary experience and enthusiasm to fill this position and look forward to having on the Mooseheads team. We are confident he will help our young defence in their development.
