Moose Sign St. Croix to Contract

Today the Manitoba Moose announced they have agreed to terms with defenceman Chris St. Croix on an American Hockey League (AHL) contract.

Last season, St. Croix played in ten games with the Moose, collecting 12 penalty minutes. He also played in 56 games with the Columbia Inferno of the East Coast Hockey League where he scored 13 goals, 36 assists, for 49 points to go along with 101 penalty minutes. In 17 playoff games last year with the Inferno, he scored one goal, eight points, as well as chalking up 24 penalty minutes.

The 24 year-old, who was born in New Jersey but grew up in Winnipeg, played all of the 2001-02 campaign with the Hartford Wolf Pack and had ten assists in 73 regular season games. In the 2002 AHL Playoffs, St. Croix added one assist and ten penalty minutes in ten games. From 1999-2001, he skated with the Saint John Flames and accumulated 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) with 117 PIM in 144 matches. The 6'3" defenceman was an alternate captain on Team USA during the 1999 World Junior Championships in Winnipeg.

St. Croix was selected by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round, 92nd overall, during the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
