Moose finalize post-season roster

March 22, 2002 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release

The Manitoba Moose have finalized their post-season roster as the American Hockey League trade deadline ended at 2 p.m. CST on Thursday, March 21.

Only those players listed on the Moose playoff roster, known as a team's clear day roster, are eligible to compete in the remaining three weeks of the AHL regular season and in the Calder Cup 2002 Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension.

Twenty of the 27 teams will qualify for the post-season, with a round of best-of-three qualifying series determining the 16-team field for the Calder Cup 2002 Playoffs, beginning in the second week of April. The conference quarterfinals will be best-of-five, and the remaining three rounds will be best-of-seven.

Manitoba is still jockeying for position in the Calder Cup playoff race. They sit in tenth spot in the competitive Eastern Conference, one point behind the St. John's Maple Leafs and Hamilton Bulldogs, at 74 points. The Moose are three points away from the sixth place Worcester IceCats.

The Moose play an important weekend series with the Houston Aeros. Tonight, the organization will honour four Manitoban Olympians at a pre-game ceremony prior to the match. Game time for tonight's game is at 7:30 and the Sunday afternoon contest against the Aeros will start at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at all Select-A-Seat outlets and at the Winnipeg Arena box office. Tickets can be ordered by phone by calling Select-A-Seat at (204) 780-SEAT (7328).
