WHAT'S ON TAP:
The top two teams in the East Division square off tonight as Hartford hosts its in-state rivals from Bridgeport (7:05 ET). The Wolf Pack, who sit first in the Eastern Conference, are three points ahead of the Sound Tigers entering the teams' eighth of 10 meetings this season. Bridgeport owns a 4-3-0 edge in the season series, and has held Hartford's power play, currently second in the AHL, to a 3-for-36 (8.3%) clip. In their last 21 games, the Sound Tigers are 15-5-0-1, while the Pack are 13-1-5-2. Another intrastate showdown pits Hershey against Philadelphia in an important South Division battle at the First Union Spectrum tonight (7:05 ET). It's the 11th meeting of the year for the arch-rivals, with the Phantoms (4-1-3-2) owning the edge over the Bears (3-3-3-1). Rookie Jordan Krestanovich, Hershey's leading scorer in the season series with eight points, recorded his first NHL point (assist) for Colorado on Thursday night. With Maxime Ouellet heading to Washington in Tuesday's Adam Oates trade, the Phantoms have received former "Baz" Bastien Award winner Corey Hirsch on loan from the Caps. The atmosphere will be charged when Hamilton hosts the St. John's Maple Leafs on Saturday (7:30 ET/9:00 NT) and Sunday (2:00/3:30). Copps Coliseum is a short drive from Toronto, and these match-ups are traditionally the best-attended games of the season in Hamilton. Plus, the teams are in the thick of the Eastern Conference playoff race, entering the weekend tied for eighth place. The Leafs are 31-20-11 all-time against the 'Dogs, including 4-5-1 this season. The Calder Cup 2002 Tour rolls into Cleveland, where the Barons will don throwback jerseys and honor the city's original AHL entrant, which laid claim to the trophy a record nine times. The Rochester Americans will be the appropriate guests for Sunday's festivities (4:05 ET), as the Barons and Amerks met six times in the postseason, including the 1966 Finals. The 2001-02 Barons enter the weekend nine points behind Rochester for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
