Moose Fans Help Purchase Smart Pump for IWK
January 14, 2011 - Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL)
Halifax Mooseheads News Release
The Halifax Mooseheads would like to take this opportunity to thank their fans for helping to successfully raise enough funds to purchase a SMART Syringe Pump for the IWK Health Centre. These funds were raised during the annual Battle of Nova Scotia game on December 30th through a jersey raffle of the 20 Nova Scotia Mooseheads jerseys. In total, $4,646 was raised, which more than covered the $4,000 cost of the SMART Syringe Pump.
"We feel the generosity of Mooseheads fans when it comes to these community driven initiatives is unparalleled in major junior hockey", stated Brian Urquhart, Vice President Business Operations. "Our fans have now helped raise just under $50,000 for 5 great organizations so far this season, which include the IWK, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Special Olympics, Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Gardens and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Atlantic Region".
"The Mooseheads really understand what it means to be part of a community, and their fans obviously appreciate it" says IWK Foundation President and CEO Robbie Shaw. "Their creativity in fundraising like the Battle of Nova Scotia and their personal visits to patients in the IWK speak to a high level of character, generosity and leadership. Thank you, on behalf of Maritime families."
