Montreal Juniors News Release

Montreal - The Juniors look to sweep the back-to-back series against the Val-d'Or Foreurs tonight in the Auditorium. But the Foreurs got their revenge as they topped the Juniors 3 to 2. Foreurs forward Alexandre Quesnel shined in the performance with two goals, including the game-winner.

Foreurs scored on their first shot on goal defenseman Simon Lacroix pinched in, took a beautiful saucer pass from Jonathan Hazen, and fired home his ninth of the year at 6:30 of the first.

The Juniors came out the second with heavy fire against the Foreurs. Juniors Jeremy Gouchie tied the game up on a great individual effort made by Nicolas Chouinard, who powered his way through several Foreurs and fed puck in front for Gouchie at 3:33 of the second. Defenseman David Stich gave Montreal the lead on the power play when he slapped one home from the point before the end of the period.

Val-d'Or got two quick goals from Alexandre Quesnel midway in the third as he gave the Foreurs the lead and secured the victory.

Montreal netminder Jean-Francois Berube stopped 12/15 shots in the loss. Foreurs goalie Jacob Gervais-Chouinard made 28/30 saves in the win. The Juniors currently stands at 25-24-2-3 and the Foreurs record is now 20-30-4-2.

Up next for the Juniors will be the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at home on Sunday, at 16:05. The Chicoutimi Sagueneens will visit Montreal on Wednesday at 19:35. The Victoriaville Tigers will be in town Friday, at 19:35.
