MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (53-49/25-15) fell short to the Biloxi Shuckers 5-3 (55-48/20-19) in the series opener Tuesday night at Riverwalk Stadium. The Biscuits were given several opportunities, but could not convert against the Pensacola bullpen.

The game started in favor of the Blue Wahoos as second baseman, Felix Valerio lifted a two-run home run over the left field wall to go up 2-0. In the bottom of the second, Biscuits hot rod, Niko Hulsizer connected on a deep RBI-double that bounced off the left field wall to cut the Pensacola lead in half, 2-1. Montgomery was able to tie the game, 2-2 with an RBI-single from catcher Roberto Alvarez.

Blue Wahoos infielder, Cam Devanney was able to drive in the go-ahead RBI-single in the top of the fourth to get back on top 3-2.

In the sixth inning, Pensacola's Zavier Warren was able to put a nicely rolled RBI-single grounder up the middle to grow the Blue Wahoo lead to 4-2. Still in the sixth, Brent Diaz was able to connect on a pitch from the fresh Biscuit relief Alan Strong and drop it right in front of outfielder Kameron Misner for an RBI-single. The Blue Wahoos settled more into their groove as they went up 5-2.

In the bottom of the seventh, Montgomery tallied another run thanks to the efforts of Osleivis Basabe and recorded an RBI-single to shorten it to 5-3.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Biscuits were sparking more hope as Kameron Misner and Ronny Simon both managed to get on base with zero outs. Hulsizer came in and chopped a pitch that turned into a double play with Misner advancing to third. Jordan Qsar became a victim of a high pop out to retire the side and leave the Biscuits with no runs scored in the inning still down two.

The Biscuits were unable to walk-off the Blue Wahoos in the ninth as Greg Jones recorded the final two outs from a double-play. The Blue Wahoos end the Biscuits' three-game winning streak and serve the Biscuits their first nine-inning home loss of the month. Montgomery returns to action Wednesday when RHP Michael Mercado (2-6, 5.30) faces LHP Brandon Knarr (1-5, 4.45) for Military Wednesday pres. By WOW August 17th at 6:35 PM CT.
