PEARL, MS - On Tuesday morning, the Atlanta Braves announced the promotion of RHP Freddy Tarnok from Triple-A Gwinnett to Atlanta. A few hours later, the Oakland Athletics announced the promotion of C Shea Langeliers from Triple-A Las Vegas to Oakland. Both key contributors to the Mississippi Braves Championship season in 2021, they become the seventh and eighth M-Braves alums to be called up to the majors in 2022 and 159th and 160th overall since 2005.

Tarnok and Langeliers join Vaughn Grissom (8/10, ATL), Joey Meneses (8/2, WSH), Michael Harris II (5/28, ATL), Joey Wentz (5/11, DET), William Woods (4/27, ATL), and Bryce Elder (4/12, ATL) to get the call this season. Grissom and Harris were promoted straight from Mississippi.

Tarnok made 24 starts for Mississippi over the past two seasons, going 5-4 with a 3.59 ERA, 42 walks, and 136 strikeouts over 107.2 IP. Tarnok was promoted to Gwinnett on July 8 after making 15 starts in Mississippi. Tarnok was 1-0 with a 2.03 ERA, seven walks, and 27 strikeouts in five Gwinnett starts. Tarnok was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the third round of the 2017 draft.

Langeliers batted .258 with 13 doubles, 22 home runs, 52 RBIs, and a .836 OPS in 92 regular-season games for the M-Braves in 2021. He finished among the Double-A South top 10 in homers (3rd), slugging percentage (3rd, .498), OPS (4th, .836), runs (7th, 56), total bases (8th, 164), extra-base hits (T-9th, 35), and batting (10th).

Langeliers was drafted ninth overall by the Braves of Baylor University in 2019. The 6-foot-0, 205-pound native of Keller, TX., threw out 28 of 69 potential base stealers (40.6%). Langeliers was acquired, along with Cristian Pache, Ryan Cusick, and Joey Estes, prior to the season as a key part of the trade that sent first baseman Matt Olson to Atlanta. Langeliers has put together a .283/.366/.510 slash line with 40 extra-base hits in 92 games at Triple-A Las Vegas this year.
