
Monsters Sign Shawn Szydlowski to Professional Tryout Contract

CLEVELAND - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, announced Wednesday that sixth-year right wing Shawn Szydlowski signed a professional tryout contract with the club. A 6'0", 209 lb., undrafted native of St. Clair Shores, MI, Szydlowski posted five penalty minutes in five appearances with the Monsters during the 2014-15 season and currently ranks second in the ECHL in goals and points this year, tallying 21-28-49 with 56 penalty minutes and a +11 rating in 31 appearances for the Fort Wayne Komets.
In 73 career AHL appearances spanning the 2010-11, 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2014-15 seasons for the Portland Pirates, Rochester Americans, Binghamton Senators, Norfolk Admirals and the Monsters, Szydlowski notched 0-9-9 with 32 penalty minutes and a -12 rating. In 219 career ECHL games played for the Gwinnett Gladiators and Fort Wayne spanning parts of five seasons from 2011-17, Szydlowski collected 96-131-227 with 234 penalty minutes and a +60 rating. Additionally, Szydlowski netted 10-16-26 with 41 penalty minutes and a -14 rating in 45 CHL appearances for the Fort Worth Brahmas during the 2012-13 campaign.
Prior to his professional career, Szydlowski supplied 94-103-197 with 306 penalty minutes and a -27 rating in 258 OHL appearances for the Erie Otters spanning four seasons from 2007-11. Szydlowski will wear number 19 for the Monsters.
