Rimouski, PQ - Moncton Wildcats outshot the Lewiston MAINEiacs 35 - 21 and outscored them 4 - 1 before 5,524 at the Moncton Coliseum on Wednesday, to improve their record to 21 - 7 - 0 - 1 (43 pts). The victory moved Moncton to within one point of the first place Acadie-Bathurst Titan [20 - 8 - 2 - 2 (44 pts)].
Christian Gaudet (8th) scored a goal and added one assist to lead the Wildcats while Ian Girard (15th), Martins Karsums (7th,PP) and Stephane Goulet (23rd) each added a goal. Marc-André Cliché (12th,PP) replied for the MAINEiacs, to spoil the shut-out bid of newcomer Jhase Sniderman, making his second consecutive start for the Wildcats.. Philippe Dupuis added two assists, with single helpers coming from Keith Yandle, Adam Pineault, Brad Marchand and Josh Hepditch.
Moncton outshot Lewiston in each period, including 14 - 10 in the first, 10 - 7 in the second and 11 - 4 in the third. Sniderman kept his perfect record in tack as he blocked 20 of 21 shots he faced to improve to 2 - 0, since joining the Wildcats. Jonathan Bernier's record fell to 9 - 13, as he allowed four goals on 35 shots. Lewiston was 1 for 7 on the powerplay, while Moncton went 1 for 6. The game's three stars were #1 - Christian Gaudet, #2 - Ian Girard and #3 - Philippe Dupuis.
Moncton returns to action on Friday when they will host the expansion Saint John Sea Dogs in a 7 pm contest.
