Victoriaville Tigres News Release
BOUCHERVILLE, Wednesday, November 30, 2005 (QMJHL) - The Victoriaville Tigres held a press conference at Colisée des Bois-Francs this afternoon to announce the hiring of Jérôme Mésonéro as the team's new General Manager. He replaces John Greene, whose contract was bought-out by the hockey club yesterday.
Mr. Mésonéro, 33, was the Head Scout for the Chicoutimi Saguenéens the past three seasons. He held the same job with the Drummondville Voltigeurs from 1997-1999. He looks forward to taking on this new challenge: "I feel like I'm joining an organization that is extremely energetic at an administrative level, supported by a strong marketing team as well as by the city's fan base and corporate partners."
He added: "My intention is to closely evaluate the personnel in place before the beginning of the trading period which begins on December 19th. I realize that the team is underperforming and I aim to find out why."
The team's President, Ãric Bernier, was very satisfied with the hiring of his #1 candidate: "I knew in the first few minutes of our meeting that Jérôme was the person we needed. He's perfectly in-tune with our youth movement philosophy that we began last year. Furthermore, he's a very competent and dynamic person. He's a workaholic whose time is dedicated entirely to hockey. Finally, he possesses a quality that we find essential - being able to properly evaluate player talent in order to be successful on Draft Day.""
The Tigres' next game is this Friday, December 2nd at home against the Drummondville Voltigeurs.
