LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
@ Springfield (5/2): Left wing David Meckler scored the game-winning goal and added an assist to force a Game Four as the Manchester Monarchs fended off elimination with a victory over the Springfield Falcons, 2-1, in Game 3 of the best-of-five 2013 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at Verizon Wireless Arena on Thursday night. Defenseman Nick Deslauriers also scored for the Monarchs. Defenseman David Savard scored the lone goal for the Falcons. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (1-2) earned his first victory of the playoffs making 32 saves on 33 shots. Falcons netminder Curtis McElhinney (2-1) took his first loss of the post-season stopping 26-of-28 shots. Manchester went 2-for-4 on the power play. Springfield went 1-for-6 with the man advantage.
@ Springfield (5/4): The Manchester Monarchs season came to an end with a 4-3 overtime loss to the Springfield Falcons in Game 4 of the best-of-five 2013 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. The Monarchs received goals from center Linden Vey (two) and left wing Colton Yellow Horn. The Falcons received goals from center Michael Chaput, center Nick Drazenovic, center Boone Jenner and defenseman Blake Parlett. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (1-3) took his third loss of the playoffs making 33 saves on 36 shots in regulation and 4-of-5 shots in overtime. Falcons netminder Curtis McElhinney (3-1) earned his third victory of the post-season stopping 33-of-36 shots faced in regulation and making saves on all four shots in overtime. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. Springfield went 0-for-2 with the man advantage.
MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES
The Manchester Monarchs (1-3) won Game 3 and led 3-1 in Game 4 before losing in overtime, 4-3, on Saturday in their best-of-five series against the Springfield Falcons (3-1) in the 2013 Calder Cup Eastern Conference Quarterfinals. With the Game 4 victory, the Falcons won the series and advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Game 2 - Manchester 2, SPRINGFIELD 3 (OT) (Springfield leads series 2-0)
Game 3 - MANCHESTER 2, Springfield 1 (Springfield leads series 2-1)
Game 4 - Manchester 3, SPRINGFIELD 4 (Springfield wins series 3-1)
In the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs, the Grand Rapid Griffins (3-2), the Oklahoma City Barons (3-2), the Syracuse Crunch (3-0), the Texas Stars (3-1), the Toronto Marlies (3-0) and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (3-0) all advanced to the 2013 Calder Cup Conference Semifinals in addition to the Falcons.
The Monarchs were 0-3 in three post-season overtime games this season and are 8-18 in 26 all-time playoff overtime games.
Manchester's power play was 3-for-14 in the post-season ranking fifth among Calder Cup Playoff teams and were 18-for-20 on the penalty kill which ranked second.
Defenseman Nick Deslauriers (2-2=4) led the Monarchs this post-season in points with four.
Deslauriers recorded a point in each of the Monarchs four playoff games this season.
Deslauriers' assist on right wing Brian O'Neill's (1-0=1) goal in Game 1 was his first professional playoff point.
Deslauriers' power play goal in Game 2 was his first professional post-season goal.
O'Neill tallied the first goal of the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs for the Monarchs. The goal also marked his first professional playoff goal.
Center Andy Andreoff (0-3=3) finished the post-season ranked second on the team in points with three.
Andreoff led the team with three assists this post-season.
Andreoff has five points (2-3=5) in eight career post-season games with the Monarchs over the last two seasons.
Andreoff finished this post-season tied for the team lead with defenseman Andrew Campbell (0-0=0) in plus/minus with a plus-2 rating.
Center Linden Vey (2-0=2) is tied with left wing David Meckler (1-1=2), left wing Colton Yellow Horn (1-1=2), right wing Brandon Kozun (0-2=2) and center Jordan Weal (0-2=2) for third place on the Monarchs with two points each.
Vey tallied two goals in the Monarchs Game 4 defeat to the Falcons.
Vey has eight points (4-4=8) in eight post-season games with the Monarchs over the last two seasons.
Meckler tallied the game-winning goal in Game 3 for the Monarchs 2-1 victory as well as assisting on the only other Monarchs goal in Game 3.
Meckler and Campbell are ranked first and second on the Monarchs active all-time Calder Cup Playoff games played list with 33 and 31, respectively.
Yellow Horn tallied his first professional post-season point with an assist on Deslauriers' goal in Game 3.
Yellow Horn recorded his first professional playoff goal with a first period tally in Game 4 against the Falcons.
Right wing Anthony Stewart (1-0=1), left wing Tanner Pearson (0-1=1) and O'Neill are tied for eighth place on the Monarchs with one point each.
Stewart tallied a goal in the Monarchs 3-2 overtime loss in Game 2 against the Falcons. Stewart has 12 career Calder Cup Playoff goals and has appeared in 23 AHL post-season games.
Pearson tallied his first professional post-season point with an assist on Yellow Horn's goal in Game 4.
Defenseman Derek Forbort (0-0=0), defenseman Vincent LoVerde (0-0=0), Pearson, Weal and Yellow Horn all made their professional post-season debuts in Game 1 against the Falcons on Saturday, April 27. Right wing Scott Sabourin (0-0=0) made his professional post-season debut on Sunday, April 28 in Game 2 against the Falcons.
Goaltender Martin Jones (1-3) started all four of the Monarchs post-season games totaling 277:10 of ice time.
Jones had a 2.16 goals-against-average and a 0.932 save percentage in the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Jones tallied an assist in Game 2 on Deslauriers' goal. The assist marked the first time a Monarchs goaltender registered a point since Jason LaBerbera recorded an assist in the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Jones' all-time playoff record with the Monarchs is 4-5. He has a 2.33 goals-against-average and a .929 save percentage in 11 career playoff games.
Jones was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, May 6.
