LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

@ St. John's (3/1): The Manchester Monarchs trailed by two goals on three different occasions and tied the game with 43 seconds remaining before defeating the St. John's IceCaps, 5-4 in a shootout, at the Mile One Centre on Friday night. The Monarchs received goals from left wing Andy Andreoff (two), right wing Brandon Kozun and right wing Tyler Toffoli. The IceCaps scored goals off the sticks of centers Patrice Cormier, Kael Mouillierat and Eric O'Dell (two). Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (15-19-3) earned his 15th victory of the season of the season stopping 33-of-37 shots in regulation and 4-of-5 shootout attempts. IceCaps netminder Eddie Pasquale (14-19-3) took his third shootout loss of the season making 22 saves on 26 shots in regulation and stopping 2-of-4 shootout snipers. Manchester went 2-for-5 on the power play. St. John's was 3-for-6 with the man advantage.

@ St. John's (3/2): Goaltender Martin Jones made 37 saves and led the Manchester Monarchs to a 4-1 victory over the St. John's IceCaps completing a season sweep in St. John's at the Mile One Centre on Saturday night. Manchester tallied goals from left wing Hunter Bishop, defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk, defenseman Bryan Rodney and center Linden Vey. Jones (16-19-3) earned his 16th victory of the season making 37 saves on 38 shots. IceCaps netminder Pasquale (14-20-3) took his 20th loss of the season stopping 18-of-21 shots. Manchester went 0-for-5 on the power play. St. John's was 0-for-7 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Providence Bruins (33-18-0-5) sit in first place in the Atlantic Division with 71 points. The Portland Pirates (32-20-1-2) are in second place in the division with 67 points. The Worcester Sharks (26-23-1-5) are tied with the Manchester Monarchs (26-24-3-3) for third place in the division with 58 points each. The St. John's IceCaps (23-31-1-3) sit in fifth place in the division with 50 points.

The Monarchs are 13-13-1-1 on the road and are 13-11-2-2 at home this season.

Manchester is 13-5-0-0 overall when they play on a Saturday this season.

The Monarchs completed their six-game road trip with a record of 4-1-1-0. The Monarchs finished the season 4-0-0-0 when playing the IceCaps in St. John's this season. Manchester has a six-game winning streak in St. John's dating to the 2011-12 season.

The Monarchs played in their 1,000th game on Saturday, February 16 against the IceCaps.

The Monarchs are third in the American Hockey League when faced with a penalty kill on the road (87.0%).

Center Linden Vey (15-34=49) leads the team with 34 assists and 49 points.

Vey appeared in his 100th AHL game (all with the Monarchs) on Saturday, December 15 against the Adirondack Phantoms.

Vey had a nine-game assist and point streak (1-13=14) end on Saturday, January 19. Vey's nine-game assist streak set a Monarchs franchise record.

Vey is the only Monarchs player to appear in all 56 of the team's games this season.

Vey has 30 points (8-22=30) in his last 28 games.

Vey had a six-game point streak (3-6=9) snapped against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, February 23.

Vey's 34 assists are tied for fourth among league skaters.

Vey leads the team with 10 power play assists.

Vey is third on the team with 15 goals.

Right wing Tyler Toffoli (27-19F) is second on the team with 46 points.

Toffoli was named the Monarchs representative on the 2013 Dunkin' Donuts AHL All-Star Classic Roster on Thursday, January 17. Toffoli registered a goal and an assist in a 7-6 loss for the Eastern Conference in the 2013 Dunkin' Donuts AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 28.

Toffoli tallied his second hat trick of the season and second against the Pirates in a 5-3 victory on Saturday, December 22.

Toffoli has nine goals in nine games against the Pirates this season, which also leads all VIP Cup skaters.

Toffoli leads the team and AHL rookie skaters with 27 goals this season.

Toffoli's 27 goals are also in second place among league skaters. Toffoli's 46 points is second in the league among rookie skaters.

Toffoli leads the team with six power play goals this season.

Toffoli has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in his last 15 games.

Toffoli leads the team with 166 shots on goal this season.

Toffoli also leads the team in plus/minus with plus-18.

Right wing Brandon Kozun (20-21=41) is ranked third on the team with 21 assists and 41 points.

Kozun is second on the team with 20 goals this season.

Kozun has nine goals in his last nine games.

Kozun leads the team with six game-winning goals this season which is tied for fifth place in the AHL.

Kozun tallied game-winning goals against the Sharks on Saturday, October 27, against the Binghamton Senators on Sunday, October 28, against the IceCaps on Wednesday, November 7, versus the Bruins on Saturday, January 19, against the IceCaps on Friday, February 15 and versus the Sharks on Friday, February 22.

Kozun's six game-winning tallies rank tied for second in the league.

Kozun has 63 career tallies in a Monarchs uniform which is tied for ninth on the franchise's all-time goals list.

Left wing Tanner Pearson (13-22=35) is in fourth place on the Monarchs with 35 points.

Pearson has three goals and three assists in his last six games.

Pearson is second behind Vey on the Monarchs roster with 22 assists.

Pearson has been out of the line-up since Sunday, February 24 with an upper body injury.

Pearson is tied with defenseman Andrew Campbell (1-7=8) for second on the team in plus/minus with plus-13.

Campbell returned from an upper body injury on Friday, December 7 in Providence. Campbell had been out of the line-up since Sunday, October 28 missing 16 games. Campbell was recalled by the Kings on February 6 and was reassigned to Manchester on February 8. Campbell was recalled to the Kings for a second stint on Wednesday, February 13 and was reassigned to the Monarchs on Saturday, March 2.

Campbell's 326 games rank third on the Monarchs all-time games played list.

Center Andrei Loktionov (7-15=22) is in fifth place on the Monarchs with 22 points.

Loktionov was traded to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, February 7 for a fifth round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Center Jordan Weal (8-13=21) is sixth on the Monarchs with 21 points.

Weal has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in his last 22 games.

Weal scored in back-to-back games for the first time in his professional career with goals on January 5 and January 11. Left wing Marc-Andre Cliche (8-9=17) is tied with left wing Dwight King (5-12=17) for seventh on the Monarchs with 17 points each.

Cliche had surgery on Monday, February 4 and is expected to be out of the line-up for an extended period of time.

Cliche ranks second on the Monarchs all-time games played list with 329.

Cliche has scored 66 goals in his career with the Monarchs which is tied for seventh place on the franchise's all-time goals scored list.

Cliche ranks ninth on the Monarchs all-time points list with 148 and ranks ninth on the franchise's all-time assist list with 82.

King was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, January 15.

Defenseman Slava Voynov (7-9=16) is tied with defenseman Nick Deslauriers (3-13=16) and defenseman David Kolomatis (4-12=16) for ninth place on the Monarchs with 16 points each.

Voynov's seven goals lead team defensemen.

Voynov rejoined the Kings on Tuesday, January 15.

Deslauriers leads Monarchs defensemen with 13 assists this season.

Kolomatis had a four-game assist streak (0-5=5) snapped on Saturday, March 2 against the IceCaps.

Three of Kolomatis' four goals this season have come when the team was on a power play.

Kolomatis returned to the Monarchs line-up on Friday, December 28 after missing 23 games due to injury.

Center Andy Andreoff (8-7=15), right wing Stefan Legein (3-12=15) is tied with defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (4-11=15) for 12th place on the Monarchs with 15 points each.

Andreoff tallied his first professional multi-goal game in a 5-4 shootout victory against the IceCaps on Friday, March 1.

Defenseman Bryan Rodney (4-8=12) is tied with defenseman Thomas Hickey (3-9=12) for 15th place on the Monarchs with 12 points each.

Hickey was picked up off waivers by the New York Islanders on Tuesday, January 15.

Defenseman Jake Muzzin (2-9=11) is in 17th place on the Monarchs with 11 points.

Muzzin was recalled by the Kings on Sunday, January 13.

In 16 games with the Kings, Muzzin has tallied two goals and two assists for four points and six penalty minutes to go along with a plus-3 rating.

Left wing Colton Yellow Horn (3-6=9) and right wing Brian O'Neill (2-7=9) are tied for 18th place on the Monarchs with nine points each.

Yellow Horn had a four-game point streak (1-4=5) snapped in a 3-2 loss to the Connecticut Whale on Sunday, February 17.

Yellow Horn tallied his first AHL point, an assist, in his AHL debut on Sunday, February 10.

Yellow Horn tallied his first AHL goal on Tuesday, February 12.

Yellow Horn has nine points (3-6=9) in 10 games with the Monarchs.

Yellow Horn had a three-game point streak (2-2=4) snapped against the IceCaps on Friday, March 1.

Six points (1-5=6) of O'Neill's nine this season came during the month of January.

O'Neill has been out of the line-up since Friday, February 22 due to a lower body injury.

Left wing Richard Clune (2-5=7) is in 20th place on the Monarchs with seven points.

Clune led the team with 98 penalty minutes.

Clune's 786 penalty minutes rank second on the Monarchs all-time career penalty minutes list.

Clune was picked up off waivers by the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, January 15.

Left wing Jordan Nolan (2-4=6) is in 21st place on the Monarchs with six points. Nolan was recalled by the Kings on Sunday, January 13.

Left wing David Meckler (2-3=5) is tied with defenseman Vincent LoVerde (1-4=5) for 22nd place on the Monarchs with five points.

Meckler tallied his second goal of the season in a 3-2 loss against the Bruins on Sunday, February 10.

Meckler's goal was the 76th tally of his Monarchs career ranking second on the franchise all-time list.

Meckler holds the franchise record for games played with 371 in a Monarchs uniform. Meckler's 350th game came against the Pirates on Sunday, November 25.

LoVerde tallied his first AHL goal in a 4-1 loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday, February 1.

LoVerde scored on Penguins netminder Jeff Zatkoff who is a former teammate of LoVerde's while they played for the NCAA's Miami University (Ohio) Redhawks.

The Monarchs signed LoVerde to a professional tryout agreement on Wednesday, January 9.

Defenseman Chris Huxley (0-4=4) and right wing Anthony Stewart (3-1=4) are tied for 24th on the Monarchs with four points each.

Huxley made his Monarchs and AHL debut in a 3-0 victory over the Bruins on Wednesday, January 23.

Huxley tallied his first AHL point, an assist, in a 4-1 loss to the Penguins on Friday, February 1.

Huxley had a three-game point and assist streak snapped on Tuesday, February 12.

Huxley has a plus/minus of plus-6 through his first 14 games with the Monarchs.

The Monarchs signed Huxley to a professional tryout agreement on Tuesday, January 22.

The Kings picked up Stewart along with a draft pick from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for right wing Kevin Westgath on Sunday, January 13. Stewart cleared waivers and joined the Monarchs on Tuesday, January 22.

Center Robbie Czarnik (3-0=3) is in 26th place on the Monarchs with three points.

Left wing Hunter Bishop (1-0=1) is in 27th place on the Monarchs with one point.

Bishop made his Monarchs debut on Friday, February 22 against the Sharks.

Bishop tallied his first AHL goal in a 4-1 victory over the IceCaps on Saturday, March 2. Bishop's tally came while the Monarchs were shorthanded and proved to be the game-winning goal.

Right wing Justin Johnson (0-0=0) has 19 penalty minutes in 12 games this season. Last season, Johnson had 187 penalty minutes in 41 games.

Defenseman Matt Case (0-0=0) made his Monarchs debut against the Pirates on Sunday, February 24.

Forward Kris Belan (0-0=0) made his Monarchs debut on Friday, March 1.

Forward Ian O'Connor (0-0=0) made his Monarchs debut on Friday, March 1.

Goaltender Martin Jones (16-19-3) has a 2.55 goals-against-average, a 0.918 save percentage and has stopped 1073-of-1169 shots attempted in 38 games this season.

Jones appeared in his 100th game in a Monarchs uniform in a 3-2 shootout loss against the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, December 16.

Goaltender Peter Mannino (10-7-0) has a 2.47 goals-against-average and a 0.919 save percentage in 20 games this season.

Netminder Jean-Francois Berube (0-1-0) made his season debut in relief of Mannino on Tuesday, January 15 making 13 saves on 17 shots while recording the loss for the Monarchs.
