Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - Three snipers scored in the shootout to lift the Manchester Monarchs over the Providence Bruins, 4-3, at the Verizon Wireless Arena in front of a crowd of 8,591 fans on Sunday evening. After a scoreless first period, center Connor James put the Monarchs on the board at 6:05 of the middle frame. Left wing Noah Clarke skated down the right side with a pass from right wing Brad Smyth. With James positioned on Bruins' goaltender Jordan Sigalet's doorstep, Clarke threw a pass from behind the net onto the tape of James' stick for his fifth of the season.
The Bruins evened the game at 1-1 with a power play goal at 13:30 of the second period. Monarchs center Yanick Lehoux sat in the box for hooking as Providence set up the power play. Picture perfect passing from the Bruins as left wing Eric Healey sent the puck from the bottom of the right face-off circle to center Ben Guite, positioned directly between the face-off hash marks. Guite sent a slap shot in on Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser that squeezed through the pads and trickled toward the goal line. Center Tyler Redenbach nudged the puck over the line for his seventh goal of the season.
Guite and Redenbach connected for the Bruins second goal of the night at 7:18 of the third period. Guite sent in the initial shot from the slot and Redenbach poked in the rebound for his second of the night and eighth of the season. Defenseman Jonathan Sigalet also assisted on the goal.
Right wing Petr Kanko tied the game, 2-2, at 12:20 of the final period as he ripped a slap shot from the top of the left face-off circle for his fourth of the season. Defenseman Brad Fast passed the puck to Kanko who flew down the left side and shot a bullet in on Sigalet.
At 13:01 of the third, right wing Lauri Tukonen, positioned at the left post, chipped in defenseman Richard Petiot's shot from the point for his fifth of the season. Left wing Jeff Giuliano earned an assist on the play to give the Monarchs a 3-2 lead.
Providence's center Nathan Robinson poked the puck in the net as guys piled up in front of Hauser to tie the game at 3-3 at 14:05 of the third period. Center Ben Walter and defenseman Jay Leach assisted on the goal to send the game into overtime and the shootout.
Former Monarchs left wing Healey was the only Bruins player to score on Hauser. Clarke, Lehoux and Smyth scored for the Monarchs in their fifth shootout victory of the season.
Hauser (8-2-2) earned his eighth win of the season stopping 30 shots by the Bruins. Sigalet (4-3-1) took his first shootout loss of the season making 14 saves.
