
Monarchs Knock Off Pirates in OT

Manchester, NH -Bud Holloway scored two minutes into overtime to lift the Manchester Monarchs to a 2-1 win over the Portland Pirates in Game 3 of their Atlantic Division Semifinal Series played tonight in front of 2,130 at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
The overtime victory gave the Monarchs a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Marc-Andre Cliche scored the other Manchester goal while Jonathan Bernier turned aside 37 of the 38 shots he faced.
Mike Weber netted the Pirates lone goal. Luke Adam assisted on the goal to register the first point of his pro career.
Cliche started the scoring just 35 seconds into the game for the only goal of the opening period. The Pirates got back on even terms seven minutes into the second when Weber connected for his first career AHL playoff goal. There was no scoring in the third to set up the first overtime period of the series.
The Pirates outshot the Monarchs 38-25 in the game as J.P. Lamoureux took the loss.
The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the Game were 1. Holloway; 2. Bernier and 3. Weber.
Pirates Playoff Hockey powered by Time Warner Cable continues with Game 4 to be played tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester. The game can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5 FM and on-line at www.portlandpirates.com beginning with the pre-game show at 6:45 p.m.
If necessary, the series will return to the Cumberland County Civic Center for Game 5 on Thursday, April 22 at 7 p.m. when every fan into the game will receive thundersticks courtesy of Time Warner Cable. Advance tickets for the opening round of Pirates Playoff Hockey powered by Time Warner Cable are $16 for Main Deck, $13 for Quarter Deck or $11 for Senior/Student/Youth in either seating location and are available at the Civic Center Box Office or by calling (207) 775-3458. Game day pricing will increase $2 per ticket in each level. Special group ticket pricing is also available. Groups of 10 or more can save $2 per ticket off the Box Office price.
