PLAYOFF PICTURE

The Monarchs (73 pts.) enter tonight's game with the Admirals clinging to the #3 seed in the North Division by one point over the Adirondack Thunder, and are tied with the Brampton Beast. Everybody is looking up at the Reading Royals who have taken the lead in the North and sit three points clear for the top spot in the division.

COMFORT OF HOME

The Monarchs return home to SNHU Arena tonight, a building the team has excelled in to this point. This season, the Monarchs hold a .710 winning percentage at home (20-7-3-1), good for second in the Eastern Conference. The 122 goals the Monarchs have scored at home are the second-most in the ECHL, with only to the Colorado Eagles (130) having scored more on home ice.

The Monarchs will look to turn things around at home, however, as they have dropped their last two games on home ice, tied for the longest losing streak at home all season.

ROAD WOES

The Admirals visit the Queen City this afternoon losers of four consecutive games, including two in a row to the last-place Elmira Jackals in Elmira. The road has been tough sledding for Norfolk all season, as the team has posted a 9-18-1-0 record away from the Norfolk Scope, the fourth-lowest road winning percentage (0.339) in the league. The Admirals have yet to win in Manchester this year, going 0-3-0, and being outscored, 15-9.

RESILIENT ADMIRALS

Of the 21 Admirals wins this season, seven have come in overtime or the shootout, including three against the Monarchs. Surprisingly, the Admirals hold the fourth-highest overtime winning percentage in the ECHL at 0.636. In contrast, the Monarchs are 5-7-1-4 in overtime, a winning percentage of 0.353.

THE FINAL FRAME

The third period has been the money period in terms of goals scored across the league, with 1,810 goals scored in the third period, compared to 1,535 and 1,785 in the first and second periods respectively. The Admirals follow the third period script, as they have scored 40% of their goals (67) in the final frame. Manchester hasn't been able to light the lamp as much in the third period, and have scored 61 goals in crunch time, adding up to 28% percent of their total goals.
